WinterFest

WinterFest is similar to Fall Hike which has a number of “stations” which the Scouts rotate through during the event.   It is a Council sponsored event which we participate in along with other Cub Scout Packs in the Eagle Spirit District.  It is held in early February and moves year to year to various parks around Kent County.

Sign-up is mandatory and the Pack pays for half of the $10 Hike fee and any adult fees.  Sign-up at the January Pack Meeting or see your Den Leader.

We gather together at the beginning around our Pack 3208 Sign and get everyone signed in.  Opening ceremonies start after sign-in is complete and the boys are grouped together.  The Scouts stay together as a Pack, but are put into a larger group of 25 or so boys.  There are usually 5 or 6 “stations” with each being about 60 minutes long.  The Scouts rotate through the stations until closing ceremonies and dismissal.

Stations can include any of the following: a hike, arts & crafts, physical activity, building something cool, survival skills, team building skills, emergency readiness drills, history, etc and of course a chance to rest and have a snack.  Each year a new theme is presented which most of the activities tie into.

The theme for WinterFest 2010 will be ”Cub Scout Style Klondike”.  Here’s a past flyer to get an idea of what it’s like: 2008 WinterFest
