2010 Summer Cub Scout Daycamp
Camping… What every boy joins Cub Scouts for!
Cub Scout Daycamp is a Council sponsored event which we participate in along with other Cub Scout Packs in the Eagle Spirit District and is held in early to mid June. Day Camp offers your Tiger Cub, Wolf, or Bear Scout opportunities to enjoy games and sporting activities, shoot BB guns, bows and arrows (supervised and after completion of safety training), make craft items, learn about nature and have loads of fun with their Cub Scout friends! Cub Scouts will receive a camp t-shirt, patch, name tag, camp photo and program related materials to take home.
We as a Pack typically take part in the Johnson Park location Daycamp as it is the most accessible to us on the “West Side” of all the locations offered. Daycamp is a 3 day event that runs from 2:45pm - 9pm and is geared for our younger Scouts ( Tiger Cub, Wolf, or Bear rank at the time of camp). This is not an overnight camp - we usually leave that for the older Webelos Scouts.
As in the format of Fall Hike and WinterFest; we gather together at the beginning and get everyone signed in. Opening ceremonies start after sign-in is complete and the boys are grouped together. The Scouts stay together as a Pack, but are put into a larger group of 25 or so boys. There are usually 5 or 6 “stations” with each being about 50 minutes long. The Scouts rotate through the stations until closing ceremonies and dismissal. There is a dinner break where time is allotted for the Scouts and adult leaders to relax in the shade and eat.
Pre-registration is mandatory and the Pack pays for half of the $50 Daycamp fee and any adult fees. Sign-up at the March and April Pack Meetings or see your Den Leader. Council Organizers require adult volunteers for this camp - Den Leaders are not enough for proper supervision or “2 Deep Leadership”. Please be sure to save some vacation days to lend a hand, and have some fun as well!
Each year has a new theme in which the program is geared towards. The theme for Cub Scout Daycamp 2008 is always an awesome, kid-friendly theme sure to add excitement! Stay tuned for more as the year progresses!!
